This year, for the first time, all our Year 12 Chemistry students took part in the University of Cambridge Chemistry Challenge. The competition aimed to stretch and challenge students interested in chemistry and provided an excellent experience for those considering taking their studies further.
Set by an experienced team of teachers and university chemists, the challenge was designed to be accessible to Year 12 students, but took them significantly beyond the syllabus, encouraging them to think about science in the way they would at university. Past papers provided a valuable resource for teachers.
We are delighted to say that our students rose admirably to this challenge and their success (72%) in achieving both Copper and Silver awards was above the national average (66%).
