Earlier this month, two bands from Weald of Kent visited Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys to participate in their Battle of the Bands.

Matilda, Daniella, Natalie from Year 9 and Lottie from Year 8 (The Gatwick Girls) performed 'She's Thunderstorms' by the Arctic Monkeys. They were praised by the judges for their musicianship and for playing excellently as an ensemble.

Lauren, Bella, Isabelle, Violet, Sascha and Sophie-May from Year 10 (BLISS V) performed 'Somebody to Love' by Queen. They were praised by the judges for their energetic performance, their connection with the audience and each other, and were told they were 'going to go far.' This was a big improvement from last year when they played well but did not perform to the audience.

Both bands were a credit to the school, gave polished performances and really enjoyed themselves on the stage. Sophie-May won the best keyboardist of the evening, which was a fantastic achievement. The Music department looks forward to taking these students (and hopefully other bands) to next year's competition!
